A message from the President
To all in the Marcellin Community, welcome to the 2017 season!
What a big few months it has been since we announced Jarrod Carlson as our senior coach late last year. It’s been great to see so many players on the training track over the summer, battling out the heat and putting in the hard work ahead of what is poised to be a great year ahead.
It’s refreshing to see so many new faces around both on and off the field, not to mention the emergence of the new crop of stars coming through our Under 19’s. It’s extremely exciting to also see an abundance of players back from injury and all of our international travellers who have returned from their stints overseas in 2016.
As you may have recently seen or heard, we will be introducing our inaugural Women’s team, the Sheagles in the VAFA’s first female competition this year. Led by Old Collegians and past player, Tom Stafford, we have received a strong response on the track with 30+ girls completing pre-season training week in, week out since they commenced in November. It’s been thrilling to see the growth, enthusiasm and improvement in skills and they have fitted in alongside our men’s teams seamlessly. A special thanks to all of the volunteers who have assisted in ensuring this possibility has been made a reality.
While the coaches have been working hard on the track to get everything in place to kick-off the 2017 season in a winning way, our committee has been working just as hard behind the scenes to secure sponsors, grounds, resources, etc. to ensure we are in a strong position for our teams to complete at the very best level they can.
Thank you to all of our sponsors who have either renewed or joined as a new sponsor for 2017. I would like to take the opportunity to specifically acknowledge our major sponsors Marcellin College who provide us with fantastic facilitates along with Woodridge Homes and MicroCloud who are our club jumper sponsors for both our men’s and women’s teams respectively.
Thank you also to all of our members who have joined once again this season and especially our Golden Eagles. If you are interested in supporting the club by becoming a member, please click the ‘Membership’ at the top to find out more.
If you are keen to support financially in another way we have introduced a tax deductible ‘Development Fund’ in conjunction with the Australian Sports Foundation to assist in raising funds for significant projects such as our Sheagles. More information on this new initiative can be found by clicking here.
Finally, we have a number of events throughout the season that we would love for supporters to attend. Functions dates and times have all been confirmed for the year, so make sure you take a look via the ‘Events’ tab above and lock them in your diaries.
