The Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club is pleased to welcome back Joel Rice to the Eagles for the 2019 Season as a Player and as an Assistant Coach for the Mens Senior team.
Joel had a massive impact on the Eagles during the mid-2000s. He earned himself a VAFA All-Australian selection in 2005 as well as winning the Woodrow Medal, awarded to the best and fairest player of the VAFA Premier Division, in that same year. In his short time with the Eagles, Joel was able to make a significant impact and was named a member of the Marcellin Team of the Decade for 2000-2010.

After this, Joel moved to Western Australia where he played for West Perth in the WAFL. In his tenure, Joel managed to make a strong influence on his teammates as he was twice named Best Clubman during his time there. From there, in 2013, Joel returned to the VAFA where he played for Old Carey. During this time at Old Carey Joel managed to win their Best and Fairest award in only his second season, and provided a huge contribution to the teams success in both the Premier and Premier B Divisions.
In his storied football career, Joel has managed to rack up approximately 250 games of senior experience and is a 6x VAFA State Representative.
As well as joining in a playing capacity, Joel will also join the Senior Mens coaching panel as an Assistant Coach. He will join the recently re-appointed Head Coach Glenn Cox, as well as the recently appointed Assistant Coach Simon Abrahams. Joel will aim to use his vast football knowledge to assist the Eagles, and will provide strong guidance for our young Senior team.
We are proud to welcome Joel back to the Eagles, and wish him all the best of luck with his dual role for the 2019 season.
