One of our premier footballers, Seniors Captain James Robertson will play his 100th game this weekend against Hampton.

Starting in the Under 19s in 2014, where he played two games in the Seniors in that year, Squid has been a consistent force to be reckoned with in Premier C. One of the most dynamic forwards in the competition, Squids efforts resulted in him being named the Captain for the 2019 season. Although had been injured for a majority of the season, his leadership off-field cannot be questioned.

100 games for the not so big skippa!

Going by nicknames Robbo or Squid, James has established himself as one of Marcellin’s standout young leaders and was rewarded at the beginning on the 2019 season by being named captain of the senior team.

From beginning in the baby eagles in 2014 Squids always let his footy do the talking, finishing at the higher end of the best and fairest counts every season, including winning the u19’s. It was the next year he was selected to represent the VAFA and don the Big V, kicking the only goal scored by the team on a cold wet day.

His football ability is second to none, but I’m sure most of you already know that. Squids got no problems letting everyone know how good he is. But it’s that chip on the shoulder attitude that we love about him. The silky left footer struts his stuff most weekends kicking crafty goals and putting the footy down the throats of the forwards.

James’ family and in particular his Mum Sue are extremely dedicated to our great footy club and are a big reason we have a culture the way it is. The football club is a much better place with the Robertson name strutting it’s stuff on all levels and this milestone is a nice reward for your family. If the younger generations follow your lead Squid, we’ll have hard working players who are loyal to their mates and the club.

I have no doubt the clubs in great hands for the future, good luck, go well and enjoy leading the club in your 100th game mate!

Lots of love.

– Joshua James

We congratulate Robbo on reaching 100 games this weekend, and we look forward to the next 100.
