The Marcellin Old Collegians Football Club are thrilled to announce the appointment of Jonathan Blanch as Playing/Assistant Coach for 2020.

Since joining the club in 2007, Jono has made a name for himself as one of the greats to come through the club. His accolades, albeit many, include the following:

  • Club Best and Fairest 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018
  • Best Finals Player 2017
  • Club Captain 2017-2018
  • Multiple time VAFA Team of the Year selection
  • Big V in 2012

Over his 194 game career, Jono has worn the Maroon and Blue with pride and distinction on every occasion. Brave beyond belief, and a wonderfully skilled on-baller, Jono has been the epitome of everything that we have come to expect from him over the duration of his football career and we look forward to him bringing his experience to the role as a playing assistant.

As Jono suffered a serious hip injury towards the end of 2018, it is unknown when Jono will return in a playing capacity in 2020. However, he will step into an important role assisting new coach Simon Abrahams as the club enters a new chapter in its already storied history. Jono’s commitment to player development and mentoring will be extremely important in setting the foundations of a strong club culture for 2020 and beyond.

We are extremely fortunate to have Jono commit to this pivotal role, and we look forward to Jono making a significant contribution to what is hoped to be a very successful 2020.
